David A. Amacher, 64, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was an active member of the Ridgway community, passed away in Pittsburgh on Monday, November 27, 2023 with his loving family by his side following a long battle with leukemia.

He was born on September 20, 1959, in Ridgway, a son of the late George and Joyce Papa Amacher.

David leaves behind his beloved wife, Tracey L. McGrath Amacher, who stood by his side throughout their wonderful journey of marriage. Married on October 29, 1982, together they shared more than 41 years of love, laughter, and companionship.

Raised in Ridgway, Dave graduated from Ridgway High School, class of 1978.  He had a strong work ethic from a young age, and after graduation, went to work at Clarion Sintered Metals before embarking his lifelong dream of owning his own business, Amacher & Son Seasonal Work. His dedication and commitment to his work was one to be admired.

Dave was an active member of the Ridgway community, coaching Little League for a number of years and was also a member of the Ridgway Moose. Over the years, he forged lifelong friendships and contributed to the betterment of the community.

Dave's passion for community service extended to his involvement with the Ridgway Lions Club, where he devoted countless hours and headed numerous projects, including AED's, therapeutic swings at Grant Park, and picnic tables at Sandy Beach.  His tireless efforts and unwavering commitment earned him numerous accolades, including the Melvin Jones award and the Meritorious Support Lions of PA Foundation Fellow Award. David was honored as Lion of the Year and received multiple distinguished service awards, recognizing his exceptional dedication. During his time with the Lions Club, he served as Past President, Past District Governor for District 14J, Zone Chairperson, and Past Vice President Governor of District 14J.

Outside of his professional and community pursuits, Dave found solace in tending to the Fairview Cemetery, where he served as President and was the longtime caretaker. His meticulous care and attention to detail ensured that each final resting place was maintained with utmost respect and dignity.

An avid Miami Dolphins fan, Dave will be fondly remembered as a man of integrity, compassion, and dedication. His warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved nothing more than spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of more than 41 years, Tracey L. McGrath Amacher, he is survived by his three children of whom he was very proud; Kiersten Amacher of Ridgway, Cody Amacher and his wife Tracey of Ridgway, Lauren Cooney and her husband Thomas of St. Marys, and by his eight beloved grandchildren; Biancia, Zachary, Sage, Danica, Hayden, McKenzie, Michael, Wesley, and his two step-grandchildren; Kristen Ellenberger and Justin Ellenberger. Jr. He is also survived by one brother; George Jr. (Beth) Amacher, one sister; Terry (Wayne "Bud") Klawuhn, his mother-in- law; Connie Fannin, his sister -in-law; Tammy Amacher, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his lifelong best friends; Mike (Sarah) Handley, Scott (Kim) Ferragine, John Blauser, and Johnny (Denise) Shelander.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Stephen Amacher, his father-in-law; Paul McGrath, his stepfather-in-law; Ray Fannin, and a son-in-law, Justin Ellenberger.

Dave's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on in the community he cherished.  His grandchildren will forever remember him telling them, After a While, Crocodile!

Funeral Services for David A. Amacher will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Hallton Church Bible Training Center, 657 Evergreen Drive, Ridgway, PA 15853, with Rev. Ron Burkett officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Krise Funeral Home in Ridgway on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
