Howard A. "Homer" White, age 72, of Ridgway, passed away on January 2,

2024, after a brief illness.

Homer was born July 2, 1951. He attended Saint Leo grade school, Elk

County Christian high school, where he participated in track and football.

He began at Penn State University for teaching, but he found his passion in

the outdoors as a logger.

He continued in the teaching gift with his children, imparting skills in

hunting, fishing, and woodworking, and instructing even his children's

friends how to navigate life. His children say he was the best dad. Homer

also passed along his knowledge of tree cutting to others.

He enjoyed boating on East Branch, water skiing, fishing, hunting, and

woodworking. Homer loved animals, and most of his life had a dog. They

had foster children, hosted children from the Fresh Air program and were

youth group leaders at St Leo's.

Homer worked for Tom Neureiter cutting trees for several years and became a part of their family. He

was employed as a logger for other companies as well. Homer also cut or trimmed trees for friends and

family.

In the summer of 2013 Homer survived a near-fatal logging accident, when a tree fell on him. His love

of family and desire to get back to work motivated him towards recovery. He was still working part-time

until he was hospitalized. Homer chose to have his body donated to science.

He is survived by his children: Colleen White (Sebastion), Ridgway; Tori White (Trevor), Ridgway;

Alex White, Kane; Sydney Patalano (Dominick) Ridgway; and grandchildren: Lilyana, Jax and Gabriella.

He is also survived by his former wife, Sharon White, Kane; siblings Greg White, Ridgway; Mary Beth

White, Edinboro; Veronica White (Lisa), Florence SC; Matt White (Gwen) Destin, FL.

Homer was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Mary White and siblings Kevin White and

Lettie McHale.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Krise Funeral Home, Ridgway, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

A Memorial Service for Howard A. White will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center Street, Ridgway, PA 15853. Join the family for a Celebration of Life gathering after the Saturday morning service

to have lunch and share your favorite stories and memories of Homer, at the Odd Fellows Camp, 4471

Grant Road, Ridgway.
