Joan Lucille (Dagustine) Martin, 90, of 111 West Main Street, Ridgway, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

She was born on June 24, 1933, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Frank and Joan Feronti Dagustine.

On October 25, 1952, at Holy Rosary Church, she married the late Daniel G. Martin. Together they shared more than 65 years of marriage.

Joan was a graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School class of 1951. She was a member of St. Leo Magnus Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of the Ridgway Woman’s club for many years. Joan was secretary at Elk County Veterans’ Affairs office, retiring in 1999. She was a Jury Commissioner for 4 years (2000-2004).

Joan served as a waitress for many years at various clubs and restaurants, including the Ridgway Country Club, Elk’s Club, and the Mediterranean. She thoroughly loved waitressing and serving people throughout Ridgway. Joan was a self-taught cake decorator and well known throughout the community for her many cakes, cookies, pies, and baked goods.

Joan is survived by 6 children: Mary Lynn (Stephen) Feidler of St. Marys, Daniel (Christine) Martin of Harleysville, Diane (Ken) Phillips of Erie, Melanie Berdis of Erie, David (Kristy) Martin of Westfield, NY, and Dana (Greg) Gebauer of St. Marys, 12 grandchildren; Lindsay and Jared Martin, Tyler, Travis (Tina) and Mallory Phillips, Mackenzie (Taylor) Cadwallader, Krystal (Sean) Rainey, Noah (Ashley) Berdis, Summer and Ethan (Madeline) Martin, and Joshua (Kathryn) and Andrew (Natalie) Gebauer, 10 great grandchildren: Murphy Phillips, Savannah Phillips, Madison and Dominic Rainey, Sophia, Norah and Owyn Berdis, Zoe Martin, Majorie Gebauer and Isaac Gebauer. She is also survived by a brother, Dominic Dagustine of Emporium and many dear nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Shirley (Hud) Caldwell and Rita (James) Blint, a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Dagustine, and a grandson, Nicholas Berdis.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan L. Martin will be on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Leo Church, 111 Depot Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, with Fr. Justin Pino officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo Church or St. Leo School.
