L. Joyce Rhines

Leatrice Joyce Rhines, 90, of Ridgway, died on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Penn Highlands Elk after a brief illness.

She was born on January 16, 1933, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Earl and Mary Ellen Carlson Johnson.

On June 26, 1954, she married the late Richard Rhines, who preceded her in death in 1990.

Joyce was a life long resident of the area and Methodist by faith. She was a graduate of Ridgway High School Class of 1952. Joyce was dedicated to her family, spending time in Hallton camping and going on family vacations. She loved biking, knitting, and bowling. 

Joyce is survived by 2 sons, Richard Rhines of Ridgway and Chris Rhines of Owego, NY, 2 sisters, Gloria Seames of Geneva, OH, and Marlene Pierce of Ridgway, and 1 brother, Bruce Johnson of Ridgway. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews, and close nephews, Wade and Adam Pierce.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Johnson.

Funeral Services for Leatrice Joyce Rhines will be held privately for the family.

Burial will be at Oakmont Cemetery.
