Ridgway

Mary E. Hoffman Oknefski, 94, formerly of Montmorenci Road in Ridgway, died on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

She was born February 21, 1930, in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Charles and Estella Cussins Hoffman.

On December 6, 1947, she married the late Frederic (Ted) Oknefski, who preceded in death September 7, 2012.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Ridgway and a 1947 graduate of Ridgway High School. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and worked for Dr. William Thompson for over thirty years. She was a member of the Bells of St. Marys and she enjoyed playing 500 with her card club ladies. She was the happiest when surrounded by her family.

She is survived by a son, Frederic G. Oknefski and his wife Pamela of Ridgway, four daughters: Cynthia A. Oknefski of Ridgway, Pamela R. Hribik and her husband John of Ridgway, Beth R. Snyder and her husband Troy of Weedville, and Lianne Schneider and her husband George of St. Marys, 13 grandchildren; Janette (Chris) Raspatello, Amber (Steven) Biondi, Dustin (Melanie) Oknefski, Michael (Ashley) Hribik, John Hribik, Emily (Ben) Brazinski, Michele (Wade) Pierce, Mark (Emyle) Ehrensberger, Marlena Ehrensberger, Thomas Snyder, Adam Snyder, Hannah (Ethan) Schneider and Brady Schneider, and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Alice Leonard, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Harry Hoffman, one sister, Dora Gonzales, and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Burkett Oknefski.

Funeral Services for Mary E. Oknefski will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 331 South Street, Ridgway, PA, 15853, with lay-minister Mimi Laughner and Pastor Ron Burkett officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church or Ridgway Ambulance.
