Robert “Bob” L. Black, 78, of Portland Mills, Ridgway, died Sunday, February 7, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family after a short illness.
He was born April 23, 1942, in Brookville, a son of Earl and Emily Lindnmuth Black.
On October 28, 1961, in Punxsutawney, he married Donna Stewart, who survives of Ridgway.
Robert resided most of his life in Ridgway. Robert enlisted into the Army in 1961, where he learned to become an airplane mechanic. Robert was a member of Central Fire Hall, Ridgway Eagles, and VFW for many years. Robert was a jack of all trades, fixing anything that had an engine. He later retired from SGL and spent his retirement in his garden. Robert had a witty sense to him and could make just about anyone crack a smile.
In addition to his wife of nearly 60 years, Donna Black, he is survived by 2 sons; Scott Black and his wife Regina of OH and Jason Black and his wife Wendy of IL, one daughter, Colleen Mowrey and her husband Bruce of Johnsonburg, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, one brother, Thomas Black and his wife Melinda of Ridgway. He is also survived by two long dear friends; Kenny Patterson and Duey Geitner.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Keller, and a sister, Betty Shultz.
Funeral Services for Robert L. Black will be held privately by his family. Officiating will be Rev. David Pfleiger.
Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Military honors will be accorded by the Ridgway/Johnsonburg Servicemens Detail.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
