Sandra J. Knight, 78, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of Ridgway, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Penn Highlands Elk.
She was born on June 26, 1946, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Milfred and Betty Keneske Nelson.
Sandy was a dedicated and extremely talented phlebotomist at the hospital in Ridgway until her health forced her from that occupation. She put the same dedication into her work at Rite-aid where she cheerfully assisted everyone. The role she was most proud of though was Mom and then Grandma. When getting off the phone she always had to say "I love you" last. It was like a competition
To support her kids, Sandy was very active in Scouting. She also sewed costumes for dance recitals. She loved making clothes and quilts for her kids and grandkids. Another passion was her flower garden and plants. She spent countless hours enjoying them and could be found there loving them.
She is survived by three children; Melissa Risch (Ron Ober) of Towanda, PA, David Knight of Ridgway, and Brian Knight of Saco, Maine; and by her five beloved grandchildren; Lauren, Ryan, Hannah, Derek, and Brianne and by three great-grandchildren; Kinsley, Callan, and Nolan, who was born this year on Sandy's birthday.
She is also survived by a brother, James (Susan) Nelson of Ridgway, and a sister Susan (William) Fernan of Ridgway, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received at the Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, on Saturday September 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, with a short prayer service to follow.
