Sonia G. Wright

Sonia Gail Wright, 88, of Montmorenci Road, Ridgway, died on Monday, February 26, 2024, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was born on February 8, 1936, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Wallace R. and Elizabeth W. Oknefski Olson.

On September 6, 1956, she married the late Wayne A. Wright , who preceded her in death on March 28, 1990.

She was a lifelong Ridgway resident, was as a graduate of Ridgway Area High School, class of 1954 a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Fox Twp. Senior Center for many years. Sonia loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and watching their sporting events. She loved to watch her flowers bloom, enjoyed cooking, and was an avid Steeler fan. 

Sonia was a homemaker taking care of her family, later Sonia retired from Community Nurses after several years of service. Sonia also worked for the Ridgway Telephone Company, Alpine Pressed Metals, and Helpmates. 

She is survived by 9 children: Mark Wright and his wife Pam of Ridgway, W. Kevin Wright and his wife Caroline of Troutsville, VA, Laura Stahl and her husband Jamie of Ridgway, Richard Wright and his wife Janice of Ridgway, Susan Bowers and her husband Thomas of Clarendon, Rebecca Steis and her husband Thomas of Ridgway, Matthew Wright and his wife Kimberly of York Haven, PA, Melissa Ealey and her husband Peter of Mt. Alto, PA, and Paul Wright of Ridgway, 21 grandchildren: Daniel, Timothy, Cory, Nathan, Leah, Samantha, Cassandra, Jennifer, Emily, James, Brian, David, Paul, Andrew, Wade, Justin, Austin, Dillin, Christopher, Nicholas, Alexandra, and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Besty Fluman of Jeannette, PA, and 2 brothers, Samuel (Ann) Olson of Ridgway and David (Meredith) Olson of CA, a brother in law, Robert (Darla) Wright, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Hunter.

Funeral Services for Sonia G. Wright will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 331 South Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, with lay-minister Mimi Laughner officiating.

Burial will follow at Thayer Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center, Ridgway, PA, 15853, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM
